Benner Green Tea from Aldi - A Review
This is a review for Benner brand Green Tea from Aldi.
This particular flavor of green tea also has orange, passion fruit, and jasmine flavors, which in my opinion make up the vast majority of the flavor of the tea. If you're not a big green tea flavor fan, this may be the tea for you.
Overall this is a very mild flavored tea, with the jasmine flavor being the dominant one and the orange flavor being secondary to that.
The tea bags are pretty much what you'd expect, with the box of 24 bags costing around two dollars.
The directions state to put one bag in a cup of boiling water for 2 to 5 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea to be, but I found that just a minute and a half produced a pretty good cup of tea for me.
I also tried using the bag more than once, but it didn't really stand up for a second cup at all. I recommend using a new bag each time.
Overall this tea is a good bargain for the money. It is a fairly mild tea, mostly made of the orange and jasmine flavors, and not much of the actual tea at all. I found that the orange in it makes sugar or other sweeteners pretty much unnecessary.
In fact, I made this with honey for a family member by request and she said it was too sweet and refused to drink it!
It is not a bitter tea either, which has always been a drawback to tea for me (I hate bitter tasting teas). But if you like a good strong tea, you may want to look elsewhere as I found this brand to be very light even after leaving the bag in the cup for the full 5 minutes.
